Current practice.
As I switch between Aberdeen and Dumfries, my location affects the way things flow. My recent collection of work carries on the same themes and methods since graduating at Gray’s School of Art.
A heavy influence on my work would be my surrounding landscapes at home, Dumfries and Galloway. I sought to learn and build awareness of the local landscapes resources, foraging materials, and building a connection to nature.
Grief has affected work in a way that’s brought me closer to the earth, not as a subject, but as a companion, a collaborator, bringing great comfort.
Stepping back from a reliance on synthetic materials is important to me, not only for the sake of our impact on the climate and environment; but as a way of healing, processing and restoring inner peace along with the land. I work slowly, learning the tunes and rhythms of the earths cycles, the order of things, changing and evolving, whilst returning to the soil of the earth.
